This stunning miniature lacquer box was hand painted in Palekh style. It features a poor old man kneeling on a shore of a blue sea and asking the magic goldfish for a favor. The scene is based on the Russian folk tale of "Fisherman and Little Fish" by Alexander Pushkin . The box is initialed by an artist.
